Feminine Wrasse (Anampses femininus) Manicure

Like I mentioned last week, I wanted to do a manicure inspired by a beautiful fish I saw, the Feminine Wrasse. It wasn't an easy task as its colours are SO vivid! I tried my best and here are the results. Doing this, I was very much regretting not having ultra bright and neon colours and no bright white to use as a base. Maybe I should expand my nail polish collection in that area, but I like greyed out colours so much I always gravitate towards them. 

I have to say, I really liked doing imperfect straight lines to match those of the fish. In nail blogging you see so much precision that doing something like this felt liberating.

And here is the mani. The colours used will be listed after the Greek bit. I am also wearing a ring I made inspired by a different sea creature. 

Όπως είπα την προηγούμενη εβδομάδα, ήθελα να κάνω μανικιούρ βασισμένη σε ένα τροπικό πανέμορφο ψάρι, το Feminine Wrasse που δε έχω ιδέα πώς λέγεται στα ελληνικά. Δεν ήταν εύκολο καθώς τα χρώματά του είναι τόσο έντονα. Ίσως πρέπει να εμπλουτίσω τη συλλογή μου με ζωηρά και νέον χρώματα, αλλά πάντα με τραβάνε τα πιο γκριζαρισμένα και ελαφρώς μουντά.  Αυτό λοιπόν είναι το ψαράκι για καλλιστεία

Και αυτό το μανικιούρ. Ήταν αρκετά απελευθερωτικό να προσπαθώ να κάνω μη-ίσιες ρίγες καθώς στα μανικιούρ, ειδικά αυτά που μπαίνουν στο μπλογκ πρέπει να είναι όσο το δυνατόν πιο τέλεια. Στην εικόνα κρατάω ένα δαχτυλίδι που έφτιαξα βασισμένη σε άλλο θαλασσινό πλάσμα.

Essence 34 glamaxy far, far away & Nubar 2010 comparison

When I did my Black Opal nails I wondered why there weren't any new flaky top coats any more. Well, here is a new one! Essence 34 glamaxy far, far away has green-to orange flakes in a clear base and is just wonderful! I compared it with the classic of its kind, Nubar 2010, and I don't see any difference- it's a perfect dupe. I swatched them side by side doing one layer on the index&middle fingers and then building them up a bit on the ring and pinky fingers. If I hadn't applied them myself, I wouldn't be able to tell them apart. Let's hope we get more of these top coats with different duochrome flakes! 

The bottle contains 8ml and I swatched it on Essence - intergalactic adventure.

Όταν έκανα το μανικιούρ Μαύρο Οπάλιο απορούσα γιατί δεν υπήρχαν πλέον topcoat με νιφάδες. Η ερώτηση απαντήθηκε με το Essence 34 glamaxy far, far away, ένα topcoat με πράσινο έως πορτοκαλί νιφάδες σε διάφανη βάση. Το συνέκρινα με το κλασσικό του είδους, το Nubar 2010, και αν δεν τα είχα κάνει μόνη μου, δεν θα μπορούσα να καταλάβω ποιο είναι ποιο. Στα πρώτα δύο δάχτυλα έχω περάσει ένα μόνο χέρι, ενώ στα άλλα δύο περισσότερα. Είναι εντελώς ίδια!

Το μπουκαλάκι περιέχει 8ml και τα δοκίμασα πάνω στο Essence - intergalactic adventure.

Essence Out of Space Stories 05 intergalactic adventure

For the second post of the day I present to you the hand you never get to see featuring another polish from the new space themed collection by Essence, 05 intergalactic adventure. 

Intergalactic adventure is rather strage because its not a straightforward duochrome, it's a mix between a duochrome and a metallic. The duochrome pearl in this case is turquoise to pink, but because the base is  dark blue it shows more like a turquoise to purple on the nail. I have many duochromes with a similar pearl, but none are like it cause they don't have that metallic sheen to them. This time my camera chose not to show the pink shift, it's definitely more intense than the pictures though not as intense as across the universe. 

There's a little bit of streakiness to it, like most metallics, so apply first to the edges and then to the middle of the nail to achieve a smooth result. 

Also worth noting is that these nail polish bottles contain 9ml, not the usual 8ml, and the brush is a little bit trickier. It's a regular thin brush and while the one in across the universe was ok,  the brush in this one wasn't very nice and splayed irregularly.

Essence 02 Across the Universe & 05 intergalactic adventure

Για το δεύτερο ποστ της ημέρας σας παρουσιάζω το 'αόρατο χέρι μου' σε guest εμφάνιση με ένα μανό από την ίδια συλλογή με το προηγούμενο, το 05 intergalactic adventure της Essence. 

Το intergalactic adventure είναι ένα λίγο ασυνήθιστο ιριδίζον μανό γιατί συνδυάζει και στοιχεία μεταλλικού, σαν να έχεις αναμείξει ένα μεταλλικό κι ένα κλασσικό ιριδίζον. Η πέρλα του είναι τιρκουάζ έως ροζ, αλλά επειδή η βάση του είναι τόσο σκούρο μπλε φαίνεται σαν μπλε έως μωβ μανό. Αυτή τη φορά η κάμερά μου αποφάσισε να μην δείξει το μωβ χρώμα καλά. Είναι πιο έντονο το ιρίδισμά του απ'ότι φαίνεται στις φωτογραφίες, αλλά όχι τόσο έντονο όσο το across the universe. 

Σαν μεταλλικό που είναι μπορεί να φαίνονται τα σημάδια του πινέλου οπότε για πιο ομοιόμορφο αποτέλεσμα βάλτε το πρώτα αριστερά και δεξιά κατά μήκος του νυχιού και μία τελευταία πινελιά στο κέντρο.

Τέλος, τα μπουκάλια αυτά περιέχουν 9ml, αντί για το συνηθισμένο 8ml, και το πινελάκι είναι λεπτό και όχι πάντα τέλειο. Στο άλλο που πήρα της ίδιας σειράς ήταν οκ, αλλά σε αυτό άνοιγε δυσανάλογα.

Essence Out of Space Stories 02 Across the Universe swatch & comparison

Brace yourselves cause today I am going to hit you with 3 posts, all on some new Essence polishes I got. I always procrastinate whenever I want to do a "look at all the new pretties I got" and then the pretties get old and I never write about them. Today I am doing things differently. The first one is from the Out of space stories, the beautiful 02 across the universe. It's a pink to green duochrome in a pale lavender grey base. The pictures don't do it justice, the shift is more intense but my camera doesn't catch the green colour at all. It's one of the duochromes where both colours are apparent on the nail most of the time, except under direct sunlight where it looks pink. 

This type of duochrome is a firm favourite with this brand since we've seen it twice before, once when they first launched the nail polish collection in their hourglass shaped polishes (122 chic reloaded) and once more in their limited edition I ❤ Trends collection (24 chrome paradise). The duochrome is the same in all three, but the different base colours make them look different. Across the universe is the lightest one and the one where you can see the duochrome the best. All the swatches are 2 layers of polish with no top coat.

All in all, I really like this polish, a nice addition to my duochromes collection!

Σήμερα θα σας τρελάνω λιγάκι γιατί σκοπεύω να κάνω 3 ποστ για καινούρια μανό που πήρα. Κάθε φορά που παίρνω κάτι νέο θέλω να το δείξω, αλλά το αναβάλλω και μετά δεν το κάνω. Σήμερα είναι μία διαφορετική μέρα και θα τα ανεβάσω όλα. Πρώτο είναι το 02 across the universe από τη νέα σειρά της Essence, Out of space stories. Είναι ένα έντονα ιριδίζον μανό με πράσινη εώς ροζ πέρλα σε ανοιχτόχρωμη γκρι λεβαντί βάση. Και τα δύο χρώματα φαίνονται στο νύχι κάτω από διαφορετικές συνθήκες φωτός, εκτός από το φως του ήλιου στο οποίο το ροζ κυριαρχεί. Η κάμερά μου δυστυχώς απέτυχε για άλλη μία φορά να "πιάσει" το πράσινο, στην πραγματικότητα είναι πιο όμορφο.

Η Essence χρησιμοποιεί αρκετά αυτού του είδους την πράσινη εώς ροζ πέρλα στα μανό της καθώς έχω άλλα δύο παρόμοια και με τα οποία έχω κάνει σύγκριση. Το πιο σκούρο (μικρό δάχτυλο) είναι το 122 chic reloaded που είχε βγει όταν πρωτοάλλαξαν τα μπουκάλια τους σε αυτά με το σχήμα κλεψύδρας και το γκρι (μεσαίο δάχτυλο) είναι το 24 chrome paradise της I ❤ Trends σειράς. Το across the universe είναι το πιο ανοιχτό από τα τρία και αυτό στο οποίο το ιρίδισμα φαίνεται περισσότερο.

Τέλος, τα μπουκάλια αυτά περιέχουν 9ml, αντί για το συνηθισμένο 8ml, και το πινελάκι είναι λεπτό και όχι πάντα τέλειο. Σε αυτό το μπουκάλι ήταν ok, αλλά σε άλλο που πήρα της ίδιας σειράς άνοιγε δυσανάλογα.
