Feminine Wrasse (Anampses femininus) Manicure

Like I mentioned last week, I wanted to do a manicure inspired by a beautiful fish I saw, the Feminine Wrasse. It wasn't an easy task as its colours are SO vivid! I tried my best and here are the results. Doing this, I was very much regretting not having ultra bright and neon colours and no bright white to use as a base. Maybe I should expand my nail polish collection in that area, but I like greyed out colours so much I always gravitate towards them. 

I have to say, I really liked doing imperfect straight lines to match those of the fish. In nail blogging you see so much precision that doing something like this felt liberating.

And here is the mani. The colours used will be listed after the Greek bit. I am also wearing a ring I made inspired by a different sea creature. 

Όπως είπα την προηγούμενη εβδομάδα, ήθελα να κάνω μανικιούρ βασισμένη σε ένα τροπικό πανέμορφο ψάρι, το Feminine Wrasse που δε έχω ιδέα πώς λέγεται στα ελληνικά. Δεν ήταν εύκολο καθώς τα χρώματά του είναι τόσο έντονα. Ίσως πρέπει να εμπλουτίσω τη συλλογή μου με ζωηρά και νέον χρώματα, αλλά πάντα με τραβάνε τα πιο γκριζαρισμένα και ελαφρώς μουντά.  Αυτό λοιπόν είναι το ψαράκι για καλλιστεία

Και αυτό το μανικιούρ. Ήταν αρκετά απελευθερωτικό να προσπαθώ να κάνω μη-ίσιες ρίγες καθώς στα μανικιούρ, ειδικά αυτά που μπαίνουν στο μπλογκ πρέπει να είναι όσο το δυνατόν πιο τέλεια. Στην εικόνα κρατάω ένα δαχτυλίδι που έφτιαξα βασισμένη σε άλλο θαλασσινό πλάσμα.

Μεταμόρφωση δαχτυλιδιού με μανό! Using nail polish make a magnificent ring!

Let's start with the theme from a really old animation film that somehow fits the bird theme of this post.

Some time ago I bought a cute cheap ring from ebay. I wasn't expecting a miracle, certainly not for that price, but when it arrived, I was really underwhelmed with it. A couple of days later, as I was doing my nails, I decided to change the design using nail polish! 

I drybrushed some China Glaze - For Audrey on the background, Le chat CM 04 Brown for the branches and an old NYC nave blue, A-England's Perceval & both versions of Holy Grail to change the birds from plain to magnificent phoenixes.

Πριν μερικά χρόνια αγόρασα ένα πολύ φτηνό δαχτυλίδι από το ebay. Δεν περίμενα τίποτα το καταπληκτικό, αλλά όταν ήρθε απογοητεύτηκα με το πόσο δεν έμοιαζε με την εικόνα του στο site. Λίγες μέρες αργότερα, ενώ έκανα τα νύχια μου μού ήρθε η ιδέα να χρησιμοποιήσω μανό για να αλλάξω το σχέδιο. 

Έβαλα ταμποναριστά λίγο China Glaze - For Audrey στο φόντο, Le chat CM 04 Brown στα κλαδιά, ένα παλιό λαμπερό μπλε της NYC, και τα A-England Perceval & τις δύο εκδοχές του Holy Grail για να μεταμορφώσω τα πουλιά σε φανταχτερούς φοίνικες.

Birthday 2017 Manicure! Το μανικιούρ των φετινών γενεθλίων μου!

How are you? I am still in a bit of a baroque daze from last night. I attended an excellent classical music concert that was all about Bach's Brandenburg concertos. As a lover of baroque music, this was just what I needed. All my internal chatter about problems and stress was silenced for a few hours and winter was only an afterthought. I've attached no3 here and no5 in the Greek version below in case you want to join me in this baroque and roll mood.

I know it's Valentine's day, but aren't you bored of the hearts, the pinks and the reds already? I know I am! Instead here is the manicure I did for my birthday last week. I started with the very vague idea of what I wanted to do: something reminiscent of the night sky without doing galaxy nails. I ended up loving the end result and in fact I still have it on, almost a week later. The colours I used are:
Leighton Denny - Your planet or mine? /An underrated dark real-to-bordeaux duochrome
Maybeline Colorshow - 254 Latte /the nude I hadn't appreciated till now
Elixir Nail Art - 100 /the fantastic sparkly silver
Stargazer  - Chrome Gold 237/We have establlished that these are amongst my favourite nail polishes
LeChat CM - Ashy Green
I also used some beautiful holographic stars. I wanted all of them to be whole for the photos, but of course I had to trim them down afterwords otherwise they would snag.

Καλησπέρα μάι φανς!
Τι κάνετε; Χθες πήγα σε μία συναυλία στο Μέγαρο Μουσικής που έπαιξαν όλα τα Βραδεμβούργια Κονσέρτα του Μπαχ. Ήταν μία εξαιρετική βραδιά όπου για λίγες ώρες τα άγχη και τα προβλήματα της καθημερινότητας δεν υπήρχαν και ο χειμώνας ήταν μία μακρινή ιδέα. Αν θέλετε κι εσείς να μπείτε σ'αυτήν την baroque'n'roll διάθεση που έχω μπει, έχω επικολλήσει το 5ο(και πιο συναισθηματικό) εδώ, ενώ από πάνω, στο αγγλικό κομμάτι είναι το 3ο.

Σήμερα είναι του Αγίου Βαλεντίνου, αλλά δεν έχετε βαρεθεί τις καρδούλες παντού; Αντί για ροζ και κόκκινες καρδιές θα σας δείξω το μανικιούρ που έκανα για τα γενέθλιά μου την προηγούμενη εβδομάδα. Ξεκίνησα με μία γενική ιδέα του να κάνω κάτι σχετικό με τον ουρανό, χωρίς να κάνω όμως το κλασσικό galaxy style. Το τελικό αποτέλεσμα μου άρεσε πολύ και το ίδιο ελπίζω και εσάς. Τα χρώματα που χρησιμοποίησα είναι:

Επίσης χρησιμοποίησα ολογραφικά αστεράκια και τα έχω ερωτευτεί. Είναι τόσο όμορφα! Στις φώτο δεν ήθελα να κόψω τις άκρες τους, αλλά μετά τα ψαλίδισα λίγο για να μην πιάνονται παντού.
