Comparison/Σύγκριση: Bioderma Sensibio H20 vs Garnier SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water

Micellar water cleansers have taken the beauty world by storm and rightly so- they are so gentle on the skin, efficient and quite cheap. I don’t cleanse with Micellar water at the end of the day as I prefer to double cleanse, however,  I keep one on my dressing table for corrections which is why I prefer to get the mini sizes. I  usually get the Bioderma Sensibio H20 and hadn't tried the Garnier SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water before, but I saw a mini version at the supermarket of all places and thought I'd grab one and do a comparison.

The Bioderma mini is 100ml and I got it for about 5€, the Garner mini is 125ml and I got it for 2.50€, half the price for more product? Sounds good so far.

Η αγορά έχει γεμίσει τα τελευταία χρόνια με νερά καθαρισμού Micellar- και καλώς έχει συμβεί αυτό. Είναι ήπια στο δέρμα, φτηνά και κάνουν σωστά στη δουλειά τους. Δεν τα χρησιμοποιώ για να αφαιρέσω όλο μου το μακιγιάζ γιατί προτιμώ το σύστημα του διπλού καθαρισμού, αλλά έχω πάντα ένα κοντά μου για να κάνω μικρές διορθώσεις στο μακιγιάζ γι'αυτό το λόγο προτιμώ να παίρνω τα μίνι μπουκαλάκια. Συνήθως παίρνω το Bioderma Sensibio H20, αλλά τις προάλλες είδα στο supermarket το Garnier SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water σε μικρή συσκευασία και είπα να το πάρω και να κάνω μία σύγκριση.

To Bioderma Sensibio H20 κόστιζε περίπου 5 ευρώ και περιέχει 100mp, ενώ το Garnier SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water έκανε περίπου 2.5 ευρώ για 125ml. 

For comparison purposes my mascara was non-water resistant mascara. I used the same type of large cotton pads and did symmetrical movements in order to remove my make up. I really couldn't tell or feel any difference. Both sides felt and looked equally clean.

Η μάσκαρα που χρησιμοποιησα για τη σύγκριση είναι μη αδιάβροχη. Νότισα μεγάλες βαμβακερές ροδέλες και έκανα συμμετρικές κινήσεις για να αφαιρέσω το μακιγιάζ. Ούτε φαινόταν ούτε και ένιωθα κάποια διαφορά. Και οι δύο πλευρές ήταν το ίδιο καθαρές.

Then I went ahead and used a second cotton pad on each side only this time I swapped products to see if one could remove anything more from the other’s side. The Bioderma seems to have removed a few crumbs of mascara from the Garnier side, but the difference is minimal and could be down to factors other than the product.

'Ύστερα χρησιμοποίησα και δεύτερη νοτισμένη ροδέλα, αλλά αυτή τη φορά άλλαξα τις πλευρές στις οποίες χρησιμοποίησα το κάθε προϊόν για να δω αν το ένα είχε να αφαιρέσει κάτι παραπάνω απ'την πλευρά του άλλου. Το Bioderma φαίνεται να έχει αφαιρέσει λίγη μάσκαρα παραπάνω απ'την πλευρά της Garnier, αλλά η διαφορά είναι πολύ μικρή και μπορεί να είναι συμπτωματική, να μην οφείλεται στο προϊόν δηλαδή.

One thing I liked better was Bioderma’s dispenser. Though both are similar, the Bioderma dispenses less product which gives you a better control of the quantity you want to use. Another thing some might need to consider is that the Sensibio is more travel-friendly as it's right on the 100ml limit for liquids in your carry-on luggage. 

All in all, I think both are equally good. I've been using the Garnier for the 3 weeks since I've done the comparison and I have nothing to report. It's nice to know there are more options out there!

Μία μικρή διαφορά βρήκα στο πώμα. Της Bioderma έχει μικρότερη τρυπίτσα οπότε βγάζει λιγότερο κι έχω καλύτερο έλεγχο της ποσότητας που θέλω να χρησιμοποιήσω. Κάτι που επίσης αξίζει να σημειωθεί για όσους ταξιδεύουν συχνά είναι πως το Bioderma είναι ακριβώς στο όριο των 100ml που έχουν οι αεροπορικές εταιρίες για συσκευασίες υγρών σε χειραποσκευή, ενώ της Garnier το ξεπερνά.

Συνολικά βρήκα τα δύο προϊόντα το ίδιο καλά. Έχουν περάσει 3 βδομάδες από τότε που έκανα τη σύγκριση, χρησιμοποιώ το νερό της Garnier και δεν έχω κάποια άλλη παρατήρηση να κάνω. Είναι ευχάριστο το να υπάρχουν περισσότερες επιλογές αξιόπιστων προϊόντων στην αγορά.

Rimmel Provocalips 16H Kiss Proof Colour & Comparison - 500, 550, 730

Imagine the end of the world is here. There’s earthquakes, storms, fires, explosions, aliens, Cthulu; everything that Hollywood has taught us an apocalypse would be like. You want to face the end of all things looking fab and you want your lipstick to last all the way into the chaos of a post-apocalyptic world. Is there a lipstick that could withstand all this? Why… yes there is: Rimmel’s Provocalips 16H Kiss Proof Colour.

It’s a 2 in 1 product where on the one end you get 4ml of the matte liquid lipstick (Step 1: Intense colour) and on the other end (Step 2:lock & shine)you get 3ml of a hydrating product that has the texture of Vaseline and smells like a mango lipbalm I had many years ago. You can apply the step 2 product as many times as you like after the lipstick has dried. I don’t understand why they call in a “lock&shine”, as it doesn’t assist the lipstick in drying or staying on, it just gives a bit of shine in case you don’t like the total matte lips look. 

They come in 8 colours so far of which I have 3 to show you today:

·         500 Kiss Me You Fool: a bright blue red, the brightest in the collection. Makes your teeth and the whites of your eyes look super white.

·         550 Play With Fire: a neutral mid-tone red.

·         730 Make Your Move: a warm brown –it was too yellow toned for me unfortunately so I have since given it away. It’s the closest to a“nude” in this collection.

They are the longest-lasting liquid lipsticks I own and even when eating an oily meal, you don’t lose that much colour on the inner rim of the lip. When I say they would last beyond the end of the world I really mean it. I don’t know of any others that are quite as long lasting as the Provocalips.

The downside to them being so long lasting is that they are very drying. The fact that they are the only matte liquid lipstick that comes with a hydrating product should clue you in. The hydrating product is a necessity for me, otherwise it feels like the longer I have it on, the more the lipstick is sucking the life out of my lips. Also don’t even think of re-applying it, it’s one of the matte liquids that becomes an uncomfortable crumbly mess if you make the mistake to re-apply it.

All in all, I can’t say I really like them. Yes, they do last forever, but that also means that it takes forever to take them off. If I don’t put an an olive-oil soaked cotton pad on my lips for a few minutes, the lipstick will not budge. What I really don’t like though is the way my lips feel even after I’ve removed it as it takes them about a day to feel normal and hydrated again. If you don’t mind the dryness and want a lipstick to get through the apoca-lips(is this the worst pun ever?) with, this is the product for you.

Θέλετε να είστε fabulous για να αντιμετωπίσετε το τέλος και θέλετε το κραγιόν σαν να αντέξει το μεταποκαλυπτικό χάος. Υπάρχει κραγιόν που θα άντεχε τόσο πολύ; Και όμως υπάρχει: το Rimmel Provocalips 16H Kiss Proof Colour.

Στη συσκευασία έχει δύο προϊόντα, από τη μία μεριά έχει 4ml υγρό ματ κραγιόν(Step 1: Intense colour) ενώ από την άλλη έχει 3ml ενυδατικού προϊόντος(Step 2:lock & shine) το οποίο έχει υφή βαζελίνης και μυρίζει σαν ένα liposan μάνγκο που είχα. Το 2^ο προϊόν το βάζετε αν θέλετε αφού στεγνώσει το κραγιόν για ενυδάτωση και για μία ελαφριά γυαλάδα στα χείλη, δεν επηρεάζει το πόσο και αν θα μείνει σταθερό το κραγιόν. Βγαίνει σε 8 αποχρώσεις εκ των οποίων θα σας δείξω τις 3 σήμερα.

·         500 Kiss Me You Fool: ζωηρό ψυχρό κόκκινο, κάνει τα δόντια και το λευκό των ματιών να λάμπουν.

·         550 Play With Fire: ουδέτερο κόκκινο με λίγο καφέ μέσα.

·         730 Make Your Move: “nude” που καφετίζει. Ήταν πολύ θερμό για’μένα οπότε του βρήκα καλύτερο σπίτι.

Όσον αφορά τη διάρκεια με δυσκολία θα βρείτε πιο ανθεκτικό κραγιόν. Ακόμα και μετά από λιπαρό γεύμα φεύγει πολύ λίγο από την εσωτερική πλευρά των χειλιών. Κανένα άλλο κραγιόν που έχω δεν αντέχει τόσο πολύ και τόσο καλά.

Το αρνητικό τους όμως είναι πως ξεραίνουν πάρα πολύ τα χείλη. Το ότι είναι το μόνο υγρό ματ κραγιόν που έρχεται παρέα με ενυδατικό προϊόν είναι μία σαφής ένδειξη του πόσο μπορεί να ξεράνει τα χείλη. Ακόμα και με αυτό όμως δεν νιώθω ποτέ απόλυτα άνετα όταν τα φοράω. Επίσης δεν μπορείς να προσθέσεις και δεύτερη στρώση αργότερα αν σου έχει φύγει από μέσα γιατί γίνεται χάλια με τον τρόπο που μόνο τα υγρά ματ κραγιόν μπορούν να γίνουν, αυτό που σε άλλη ανάρτηση είχα περιγράψει ως τσιμέντο που σπάει.

Γενικά δεν μπορώ να πω πως μου αρέσει να τα χρησιμοποιώ. Μπορεί να κρατάνε άπειρες ώρες, αλλά χρειάζεται να κάθομαι με ένα βαμβάκι ποτισμένο με ελαιόλαδο πάνω στα χείλη για πολλή ώρα προκειμένου να τα αφαιρέσω κι αυτό δεν είναι το πιο ενοχλητικό χαρακτηριστικό τους. Το πόσο ξερά αισθάνομαι τα χείλη μου καθ’όλη τη διάρκεια που τα φοράω αλλά και η αίσθηση που μου αφήνουν για μία περίπου μέρα αφού το έχω φορέσει δεν μ’αρέσει καθόλου. Αν η ξηρότητα των liquid matte lipsticks δεν σας ενοχλεί και θέλετε τη μέγιστη διάρκεια από το κραγιόν σας, τότε τα Provocalips ίσως είναι για εσάς.

Art Deco - Long-wear Eyeshadows (24, 46, 68, 245, 272)

Today’s post is about a set of eyeshadows I’ve been using&enjoying for the past year or so since I discovered them: Art Deco’s Long-wear Eyeshadows(non affiliated link). I literally cannot find a flaw with them: they are pigmented, velvety, they last even without a primer(I have dry lids), they blend easily, they have close to zero fallout, and did I mention super smooth? I don’t think there is anything as good at this price point (under €10), it feels like a much more expensive product. 

You get 1,5gr of product per shadow and they all have magnets at the back so that you can place them in a palette. The collection is comprised of a great selection of neutrals and there are currently two additional colours in collection The Sound of Beauty limited edition collection. I really hope the permanent collection gets expanded in the future. I know I really like a product when I start thinking of the colours I would love to get, even if those colours aren't available yet-a matte deep forest or hunter's green please!

At the moment I have 5 and I've take plenty of pictures of them, all without a primer :
24 – matt chocolate, a neutral dark brown
46 – matt mauve, a medium grey-mauve
68 – matt ivory, a true ivory
245 – satin lace, a light goldish taupe
272 – satin smoke, a beautiful chameleon of a cool taupe, though not pinkish like the promo pictures

Σήμερα λοιπόν έχω να σας παρουσιάσω τις σκιές Long-wear Eyeshadow της Art Deco (μη διαφημιστικό λινκ) τις οποίες χρησιμοποιώ τον τελευταίο χρόνο και θεωρώ εξαιρετικές. Πραγματικά δεν έχω τίποτα αρνητικό να πω γι’αυτές, τις θεωρώ τις καλύτερες σκιές όχι μόνο στην κατηγορία τους όσον αφορά την τιμή (κάτω των 10€) αλλά και ανώτερες άλλων πολύ ακριβότερών τους. Έχουν βελουδένια υφή, παραμένουν σταθερές για ώρες ακόμα και χωρίς primer (έχω ξηρά βλέφαρα) και είναι πολύ εύκολο να κάνεις ομαλές σκιάσεις (blending) με αυτές. 

Κάθε συσκευασία περιέχει 1,5 γρ και έχουν όλες μαγνήτη από πίσω ώστε να τοποθετούνται εύκολα σε παλέτες. Η συλλογή αποτελείται από πολύ ωραία ουδέτερα χρώματα, στη συλλογή αυτής της σεζόν έχουν δύο ακόμα limited edition χρώματα, αλλά ελπίζω στο μέλλον να υπάρξουν περισσότερα και στη μόνιμη συλλογή. Για'μένα το σίγουρο σημάδι πως μ'αρέσει ένα προϊόν είναι όταν σκέφτομαι σε τι άλλα χρώματα θα το ήθελα-ένα ματ βαθύ πράσινο, παρακαλώ!

Μέχρι τώρα έχω αποκτήσει πέντε αποχρώσεις και έβγαλα πολλές φωτογραφίες τους, όλες χωρίς primer:

46 – matt mauve, μέσο γκρι-μωβ,
68 – matt ivory, ιβουάρ,
245 – satin lace, διακριτικά χρυσαφένιο γκρι-μπεζ

Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Matte Liquid Lipstick - 19 Jolie de vin

Hello dear readers!

How does this blog look? There’s still a lot to be done to accommodate its new bilingual status, but we’ll get there. I was really tired of uploading on the same content on two different blogs and there was no point in splitting my views really. There’s still a few glitches that I need to resolve, but I hope they’ll get sorted within the next week or so.

On to the matter at hand: the new Bourjois Velvet Matte Liquid Lipstick in 19 Jolie de vin. I was so happy when I saw the new colours included what seemed like a super dark red! As I had mentioned in an earlierswatch post, I love the Bourjois Velvet Mattes and this year I’ve been looking for a very dark red, so did this turn out to be IT? Let us see!

First of all, it is in all respects like the rest of the collection: pigmented, long lasting & soft. The Velvets are not like the liquid matte lipsticks that have flooded the market in the last couple of years, it doesn't suck the life out of your lips as it dries and it doesn't create that seemingly impenetrable barrier of colour. You don’t really feel it on your lips and if you wipe them you will see some colour come off, but it takes a lot of wiping for the colour of your lips to appear faded. This texture also means that it is more versatile; you can wear it more or less saturated, depending on how much you apply.

The end result is a velvet matte-as the name suggests-, a softer matte if you like. Of course it doesn't last in the same way the other liquid mattes do, but on the other hand you can add more layers during the day, without it feeling like a crumbly, uncomfortable mess and any dry spots on your lips will not be accentuated. I definitely prefer this formulation when I plan to wear an intense lip for many hours, especially if my plans include eating a full meal. All lipsticks fade when you eat something with oil or grease in, not all mattes can be re-applied without having to be completely removed post-eating.

The colour 19 Jolie de vin is a beautiful dark red, though not as dark as the packaging leads you to believe- at least not on my lips. It is a little bit darker than the other dark red in the collection, the blue toned 08 Grand Cru, but more neutral & brown. I think it is a darker version of the neutral red 01 Personne ne rouge!, at least that’s how it looked like on my swatches. On the lips when I put on the first layer it looks more blue-toned than it is (my lips tend to do that to lipsticks), when I add a second layer the browner & neutral tones show through more. Ι’m sure the purple hues would show more on a warmer skintone, but not on me since my skintone is quite cool. Is it the blackened dark red I thought it was going to be? No, but it’s definitely a gorgeous wine red that I will be wearing a lot!

Γεια σας αγαπημένοι αναγνώστες!

Πώς σας φαίνεται η προσθήκη αγγλικών σε αυτό το blog? Είχα κουραστεί να ανανεώνω δύο μπλογκ με το ίδιο περιεχόμενο κι έτσι είπα να τα κάνω ένα. Πρέπει να γίνουν κάποιες μικρές αλλαγές ακόμα για να είναι όλα ομαλά αλλά ελπίζω μες τη βδομάδα να διευθετηθούν και αυτά. 

Στο θέμα μας τώρα: το νέο κραγιόν της Bourjois Velvet Matte Liquid Lipstick 19 Jolie de vin. Δεν ξέρω τι γίνεται με την Bourjois αλλά στα τοπικά μου καταστήματα η τελευταία φορά που είδα νέα συλλογή ήταν ότανανέβασα το πρώτο ποστ γι’αυτά τα κραγιόν. Το Jolie de vin το παρήγγειλα από τα asos γιατί δεν υπήρχε περίπτωση να μην πάρω το πιο σκούρο κόκκινο της σειράς ως τώρα.

Καταρχάς είναι καθ’όλα του τα χαρακτηριστικά όπως τα υπόλοιπα της σειράς: με έντονο χρώμα, μακράς διαρκείας και απαλό στα χείλη. Τα Velvet matte δεν είναι σαν τα υγρά κραγιόν που έχουν κατακλύσει την αγορά τα τελευταία δύο χρόνια. Δεν εξαφανίζουν κάθε ίχνος ζωής από τα χείλη και δεν δημιουργεί ένα φαινομενικά αδιαπέραστο στρώμα χρώματος. Σχεδόν δεν τα αισθάνεσαι όταν τα φοράς και παρόλο που αν τα σκουπίσεις φεύγει λίγο χρώμα, πρέπει να τα σκουπίσεις πολλές φορές για να φανεί διαφορά στα χείλη. Η υφή τους σημαίνει επίσης πως μπορείς να διαχειριστείς καλύτερα το βάθος χρώματος ανάλογα με το πόσο θα βάλεις.

Χαρίζουν όψη βελούδινη-όπως φαίνεται κι από το όνομα-, ένα πιο απαλό ματ θα μπορούσε να πει κανείς. Φυσικά δεν μένουν ακλόνητα για τόσες πολλές ώρες όπως τα άλλα υγρά ματ, αλλά από την άλλη μπορείς να προσθέσεις νέα στρώση κραγιόν κατά τη διάρκεια της μέρας χωρίς να αισθάνεσαι τόσο άβολα, λες έβαλες τσιμέντο που σπάει στα χείλη. Όταν ξέρω πως θα είμαι έξω για ώρες, ειδικά αν πρόκειται να φάω κάτι λιπαρό, προτιμώ αυτά τα κραγιόν λόγω της ευκολίας στην ανανέωση του χρώματος και γιατί είναι πιο άνετα γενικά.

Το χρώμα 19 Jolie de vin είναι ένα πολύ όμορφο βαθύ κόκκινο, αν και όχι τόσο σκούρο όσο η συσκευασία του-έτσι φαινεται στα χείλη μου τουλάχιστον. Είναι λίγο πιο σκούρο, ουδέτερο και καφετί από το άλλο βαθύ κόκκινο της συλλογής, το ψυχρό 08 Grand Cru. Από τις δοκιμές που έκανα μου φαίνεται σαν ένα πιο σκούρο 01 Personne ne rouge!.

Στα χείλη η πρώτη στρώση φαίνεται πιο ψυχρή και προς το μπλε, αλλά αυτό είναι αναμενόμενο καθότι το δέρμα μου έχει ψυχρή απόχρωση, ενώ με τη δεύτερη στρώση φαίνεται πιο καθαρά το ότι το κραγιόν έχει μέσα καφέ και ουδέτερες αποχρώσεις. Σε κάποια με πιο θερμό χρώμα δέρματος(πιο προς το κίτρινο) θα φαινόταν πιο μωβέ απ’ότι σ’εμένα. Είναι άλλο ένα καταπληκτικό κόκκινο στη συλλογή μου, είναι ένα υπέροχο κόκκινο του κρασιού που θα φορέσω πολύ!

Σας έχει τύχει ποτέ να προσπαθείτε να κάνετε κάτι όχι και πολύ δύσκολο και απλά να μην πετυχαίνει; Αυτό έπαθα με αυτό το μανικιούρ. Ούτε που θυμάμαι πόσες φορες ξέβαψα και ξανάβαψα τα νύχια μου και νομίζω φαίνεται από το πόσο ξερά είναι παρόλο που τους έβαλα κρέμα και λάδι για τις παρανυχίδες.

Δεν γινόταν να μην κάνω κάτι και φέτος για την γιορτή των φαντασμάτων κι ας μην μπόρεσα να αποτυπώσω όλες τις ιδέες μου. Ήθελα να κάνω τέρατα λίγο πιο παράξενα και διαφορετικά απ'ότι τα ξέρουμε, από τα οποία τη γλίτωσε μόνο η μαύρη γάτα-κύκλωπας! Δεν είναι υπέροχη/τρομακτική; Ίσως πρέπει να γράψω κάποια ιστορία γι'αυτή, μ'άρεσε σαν ιδέα.
